Weekly Photo Challenge: Resolved
4 Jan 2013
As many members of WordPress Photo Challenge have already stated, they really don’t make New Years Resolutions. I’m one of those as well. But what I will tell you about is something that Chris and I started last year and will continue even more this year is our study of Qigong for Healing. Chris has already been accepted into the Ling Gui International Healing Qigong School. And Master Liu He is figuring out a special schooling plan for me, since I’m not healthy enough at this point to attend their schooling which takes place over 4 long weekends and a five day retreat throughout the coming year.
Chris will be studying four weekends in Seattle, Washington. So while she is in school, I am planning on staying at a nice hotel near the beach or the Seattle Space Needle so I can take plenty of photographs. We have only been to Seattle once and it was for about four hours.
Another thing I want to achieve this year is to take more photographs of every day life. I so enjoy seeing other people’s photos of the ordinary and sometimes not so ordinary things in that pop up in our daily lives. The next series of photographs are of a Mung bean and Ginger tea that I make.
Here is the recipe:
Makes a wonderful earthy flavored tea with warm a ginger tang
4 cups water in sauce pan
8 – 10 thinly sliced pieces of ginger (at least and 1-1/2 in diameter)
1/3 cup mung bean
Boil for about 15 minutes then serve hot
Hugs and blessings
Cee

What a wonderful “resolved” adventure for you and Chris. Seattle is an amazing city and I’m sure you’ll get lots of great photos there while learning Qigong. How perfect is that.

Make sure you catch Pike’s Place Market while in Seattle. Bring your camera as there’s tons to capture. I might highly recommend the fish market where they sling giant fish all over the place. Make sure your camera is set up for high speed captures. I recommend the ferry ride as well because the skyline makes for super photo opportunities as well. Have fun!! – Bob

Hi! I’ll suggest to you our version [Philippine] of ginger tea. We call it “salabat.” In fact, I prepared some last week. Instead of mung beans or “munggo” in our language, we use a variety of roundish-shaped banana we call “saging na saba” [lots of photos in google]. We slice the ripe banana, boil it with ginger [depends on your taste], and add sugar for those who can’t take plain ginger tea. It is good for those with cough and colds. Happy New Year!

Hooray! I finally figured out how to “like” your posts, evidently I need to press “send” for it to register. Focus, Elisa!!
I love ginger tea, but I’ve never heard of mung beans. I will google. I read earlier that drinking a shot of apple cider vinegar every morning will give added energy. I don’t know if I could do that every day. I’ll stick with the ginger…

I hope the schooling plan works out for you, I know how gruelling workshops can be, I did three years of training every other weekend to become a counsellor and it was exhausting. Happy 2013.

I love ginger tea especially when you have a cold. Plain boiled ginger and if you want with brown sugar is enough for me. Although when I was in NY a friend let me try a ginger tea which was a ginger powder in a packet. I will try and look around if we have them here in Chicago.
Enjoy taking pictures of Seattle. I love that city.

Goos Luck to Chris in this new adventure. Hope to see posts of her experiences. Take lots of pix’s. I haven’t been to Seattle nor do I think I would like it. I hear it rains a lot and tends to have gloomy days. I get down if there isn’t birght sun in my life. I would like to venture out and taste lots of coffee at different shops even if it is decaf. hahaha
Great post, Cee.

It sounds like this will be a healthy year, Cee, with Chris’s training in Qiqong, your accompanying trips to Seattle, and your focus on the simple pleasures such as photographing everyday life and drinking mung bean and ginger tea.

How wonderful to get to go see Seattle! I know you will take some beautiful photos. The tea sounds interesting. I’ll have to try that. Peppermint tea with honey is my favorite, but I love hot tea of many flavors! And I love the taste and aroma of ginger. Mmmm.
