Share Your World Update – Hair Cut and Locks of Love
16 Jan 2013
As I stated in my answer to the questions in Share Your World yesterday, I was going to get my hair cut. I did get it cut quite short considering it was extremely long. I was able to donate my hair to Locks of Love.
I took this photo with my Ipod touch just a few minutes ago. I know it isn’t the best, but it will give you an idea of what my hair looks like now.
For those who do not know what Locks of Love is here is a brief synopsis from their website.
Locks of Love is a public non-profit organization that provides hairpieces to financially disadvantaged children in the United States and Canada under age 21 suffering from long-term medical hair loss from any diagnosis. We meet a unique need for children by using donated hair to create the highest quality hair prosthetics. Most of the children helped by Locks of Love have lost their hair due to a medical condition called alopecia areata, which has no known cause or cure. The prostheses we provide help to restore their self-esteem and their confidence, enabling them to face the world and their peers.
Mission Statement
Our mission is to return a sense of self, confidence and normalcy to children suffering from hair loss by utilizing donated ponytails to provide the highest quality hair prosthetics to financially disadvantaged children. The children receive hair prostheses free of charge or on a sliding scale, based on financial need.

You look great, and such a great cause. Just wondering, if I go to my regular hairdresser for a cut, how can I donate?
Jan 16, 2013 @ 13:18:40
You hair needs to be at least 10″ long (the cut part). I know they like it as pure as can be. If the hair is not long enough or good enough, they will sell it other wig makers and get some money for it. So either way you are donating. Most hairstylist know of them and will send your hair on to them.

What a great idea, Cee. I unfortunately don’t have long locks to donate. My hair grows very slowly, and isn’t nice and thick like yours is. Well done to you, Cee. You look gorgeous, and now you can grow it all over again.

I have had that thought of just regrowing it all again. Fortunately my hair grows super fast. We’ll see how I like it shorter first. Thanks.

Jan 17, 2013 @ 12:30:27
I actually feel perkier if that makes sense. Thanks!
Jan 16, 2013 @ 18:08:01
Love your cute new haircut, Cee! I’m sure it feels good to have less hair to take care of too!
Jan 17, 2013 @ 12:30:01
I’ll find out for sure when I use way too much shampoo. I do like that I can brush it in a few seconds versus minutes.

You got a beautiful haircut and you were able to contribute to a good cause that you like. It is a win-win, nothing can beat that.
Jan 17, 2013 @ 12:29:17
It is definitely a win-win. I really like my new hair cut.

Hi Cee! I donated to LOL earlier last year and it felt great. Look at that, now we have two things in common…a love of great photos…and a big “wig” donation
Jan 17, 2013 @ 12:28:50
That is so cool you did it too. I love it!!!

Lovely haircut for the New Year Cee
– and all to a very worthy cause that’s marvellous .
Hair loss for whatever reason is such a source of anxiety, and for youngsters with their self image issues anyway growing up this charity must be a real gift to them .
Jan 17, 2013 @ 12:28:26
You are right about that. Sick children need all the help they can get.

My daughter donates her hair every few years to locks of love and she may be ready to get it done again as you can see from my answers and photos of Share Your World yesterday

Oh yeah, her hair is definitely long enough. I might try it again, but my hair is so hard to manage because it is so thick and has a slight wave.
Jan 17, 2013 @ 03:42:47
You look so beautiful dear Cee.
Jan 17, 2013 @ 12:26:43
Thanks Nia.

Jan 17, 2013 @ 12:26:28
I really didn’t think my hair was that long, so it was a nice surprise when I could donate. Thanks!
Jan 17, 2013 @ 07:45:17

Saw your new pic on my blog and came to say I love it, then to read about locks of love as well – you’re simply wonderful Cee!
Jan 18, 2013 @ 14:54:28
Awesome, Cee!
Is there a way that I don’t have to enter my email address every time I want to “like” or comment on your blog?
Jan 20, 2013 @ 20:39:59
Sorry there isn’t. I know for me it holds my email, but it may not always.
Jan 29, 2013 @ 14:59:02
What a great inspiring idea Cee.
I think I may have to do it. What is the minimum length for donation?
Jan 31, 2013 @ 09:34:04
Hi Rosie, I believe the minimum length is 10″ for donation. Thanks for stopping by.
